Be Superior to Your Former Self
This is such a great quote that we should all live by in every aspect of our lives. We should not feel that we are in any way noble if we are "superior" to others because in many ways, simply where and when you are born, as well as random experiences in your life, will shape who you are relative to others. For example, if you are born to a poor family in a poor country, you are at a massive obstacle if you want to achieve the same goals as someone born in a rich country to a rich family. Even then, if you get an injury, then that greatly limits your ability. Thus we should stop feeling we are noble or good because we are "better" than others. But rather we should only busy ourselves with becoming better than who we once were, but at the same time always look to empower and improve the lives of others around us. When we focus on improving ourselves, either physically, mentally, educationally, or even philosophically, we are on a true level playing field, because we can have ourselves to measure against regardless of what we have or are going through. So no matter if you are rich or poor, able or disabled, we must always strive to become better than who we once were. How much better we improve, will depend on how much work we put into it, thus it truly is noble to train our body and minds to be better than we were yesterday.
